Back by popular demand, Basic Accounts will be available to all users again by the end of the (northern hemisphere) summer. More information on the decision-making process and proposals relating to the future of Basic Accounts are in lj_2008.

Ж-Men...but not the ones you might expect!
This week LJ Russia launched Ж-Men, a new comedy series about superheroes, inspired by the LJ communities dedicated to superheros, comics and cartoons. The title's "Ж" comes from ЖЖ, the nickname for LiveJournal in Russia.

Ж-Men's script is written by a group of LJ enthusiasts who also happen to be television professionals. Who knew? Following the premiere, five more episodes will be broadcast over the next two weeks. We hope you find the series fresh and enjoyable.

This is, of course, an experiment for LiveJournal. As always, we'd love to hear what you think!

Принцип Питера — это частный случай общего наблюдения: любая хорошо работающая вещь или идея будет использоваться во все более сложных условиях, пока не станет причиной катастрофы. Как правило, появляется большой соблазн продолжать пользоваться уже проверенной идеей, технологией или вещью в изменившихся условиях, даже выходящих за допустимые рамки применения этой идеи, технологии или вещи. Лоуренс Питер применил эти наблюдения в отношении продвижения людей по иерархии должностей.

Согласно принципу Питера, человек, работающий в любой иерархической системе, повышается в должности до тех пор, пока не займёт место, на котором он окажется не в состоянии справиться со своими обязанностями, то есть окажется некомпетентным. Этот уровень и называется уровнем некомпетентности данного сотрудника. На этом месте сотрудник «застрянет» и будет находиться до тех пор, пока не покинет систему (то есть не уволится, не умрёт или не выйдет на пенсию).

Хосспади... Мне теперь понятно, почему Катя Гордон такая дура псевдо-интеллигентная психованная дама. Она же полное соответствие своего мужа!
